St. John Paul the Great Legacy Pilgrimage – Corpus Christi in Poland

Feast Days are celebrated with gusto in Poland. A favorite is Feast of Corpus Christi marked by Eucharistic Procession in every village and city. Most prominent is the Procession in Kraków led by the Metropolitan, now the Cardinal that served at John Paul II’s side for more than 40 years.
This procession begins at Wawel Cathedral, proceeds along the Royal Way through Historic Kraków about three miles to St. Mary’s Basilica. Thousands of locals will join the Cardinal.

During the Communist years, this celebration was prohibited – until the future Pope, Karol Wojtyła became Bishop. It took a few years, but he restored the tradition. So, in Kraków, the Corpus Christi procession is more than the major Catholic Feast Day, it has Polish Cultural importance as well.
While this day is a highlight of Living Krakow’s Cultural Pilgrimage ™ in June, there is much more! See itinerary for details.
